In early March, Nikon announced that they would have to delay the release of the D6 to May 2020 due to the fact that their suppliers have been affected by the as-of-this-writing virus crisis.
In a March 9 press release, they wrote, “As a result of delays in the procurement of parts and components from a third-party cooperating company due to measures implemented in response to the spread of COVID-19, the release of the new Nikon D6 digital SLR camera, originally planned for March 2020, will be delayed. We sincerely apologize to our customers and all those concerned for any inconvenience this may cause.”
The D6 is still available for pre-order at B&H, Adorama and other retailers. B&H still has the originally April 2020 shipping date estimate while Adorama has marked their listing with a realistic first-come-first-served note.
So, if you’re a pro who really needs this $6495, nearly three-pound hunk of Nikon ultimate camera tech, you’re going to have to wait just a little bit longer. Or you could just buy a few Z7s.
